A classroom without walls

The students of Bovenbouw Sint-Gertrudis Landen recently embarked on a memorable discovery trip to beautiful, sunny Paris. More than a school excursion, the journey was an opportunity to experience language, culture, history, and travel in an engaging and meaningful way.

The 5th and 6th Grade Modern Languages students planned their Parisian adventure with Denoxa Adventures, taking an active role in shaping their experience. From discussing destinations and travel arrangements to choosing cultural activities, they learned that travel begins long before arriving at the destination. With the support of Denoxa Adventures, the students developed their ability to collaborate, make decisions, and take responsibility for creating a shared adventure.

Cultural exploration in the City of Light

Paris provided the perfect setting for cultural exploration. Its elegant boulevards, historic landmarks, lively neighbourhoods, museums, cafés, and riverside walks offered countless opportunities for discovery. Every street revealed another aspect of French life, allowing the students to connect the language they study in the classroom with the world around them.

Travel also introduced them to the everyday culture of Paris. Ordering food, listening to French being spoken, navigating the city, observing local customs, and interacting respectfully with others transformed language learning into a practical experience. These moments helped the students understand that a language is not only a school subject—it is also a way of connecting with people and participating in another culture.

The rhythm of Parisian life

The sunny weather added to the atmosphere, making it possible to enjoy the city at a relaxed pace. Guided by the thoughtful approach of Denoxa Adventures, the students had time to appreciate the architecture, explore the streets, and experience the rhythm of Parisian life while sharing the excitement of travelling together.

The trip was designed around curiosity, cultural connection, and meaningful experiences. Rather than simply visiting famous sights, the students were encouraged to look more closely, ask questions, and appreciate the differences and similarities between their own lives and those of the people they encountered.

A classroom without walls

The Paris experience became a valuable lesson in independence, cooperation, and cultural awareness. It gave the students of Bovenbouw Sint-Gertrudis Landen the chance to practise their modern language skills in real situations while creating lasting memories with their classmates.

For these 5th and 6th Grade Modern Languages students, Paris was not just a destination. It was a classroom without walls—one filled with new sounds, new perspectives, and the excitement of discovering the world together.
