Opéra Garnier

Welcome to an architectural gem in the heart of Paris. The Palais Garnier, built by Charles Garnier and inaugurated in 1875, is the seat of the Paris Opera and a masterpiece of Second Empire eclecticism.

The self-guided visit takes you through the Grand Foyer, the Rotonde des Abonnés, the Grand Staircase of multi-coloured marble, and the auditorium crowned by Marc Chagall's painted ceiling.

The Bibliothèque-Musée de l'Opéra displays set models, costumes and paintings tracing three centuries of opera and ballet.
