Paris Panthéon

Paris Panthéon

A temple dedicated to the memory of the men and women who have marked French history since the Revolution. Under the dome of the Panthéon, commissioned by Louis XV and completed under the Revolution, lie Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Marie Curie, André Malraux and Jean Moulin.

Foucault's pendulum, suspended from the dome in 1851 to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth, still swings beneath the central vault.

The colonnaded terrace offers a sweeping view over the Latin Quarter and the whole of Paris.
